Chapter 2. Installation
In order to properly run the software on Microsoft® Windows® systems the following requirements have to be fulfilled:
Requirements
Hardware
- A x86 or compatible PC, with at least an Intel® Pentium®-Processor rated at 166MHz
- minimal 64Mbytes RAM
- at least 10Mbytes harddisk-space in order to allow proper working
- A SVGA-capable graphics-adapter, screen-resolution should be at least 800x600 Pixels
- An internet connection (at least for loading mapsets)
- Optional: A GPS-Receiver with serial- or USB-interface, capable to offer a virtual COM-Port to the system and fulfilling the NMEA-Standard
Software
- Microsoft® Windows®, Version 95/98/ME or NT 4.0/2000/XP
- A Sun Java-Runtime installed, Version 1.4.1 or higher
- Direct access to the internet; if you have a firewall installed, you will have to allow java.exe to perform an internet connection
Download & Install
You can download an actual wlandscape-built-version from SourceForge:

Follow these steps in order to install wlandscape:
- Download a Build-version from SourceForge
- Extract the file to a clean directory
- Make sure you have an actual Sun Java Runtime-Version (JRE) installed
- Copy the file javax.comm.properties out of the main-directory to your JRE-lib-directory
- Edit the run.(bat|sh)-file so that the java-home-directory matches your Java-installation
- Start the application by executing run.(bat|sh) from within the wlandscape-directory
