The application also allows an automatic tracking with a GPS-receiver attached to the computer. If you start the GPS-tracking for the first time in this session, the application will try to initialize the receiver by the parameters set in the options (see chapter 7d for explanation). If it cannot be found there the application asks you to do an auto-detection. This could take a few time depending on the available serial-ports of the system.
The exceptional feature of this function is its automated working. Once the receiver was successfully initialized the single maps will actualize with the current position provided by the GPS. The track-point will move over the map and update its position an every second. If the point leaves the map the next neighbouring map will load. Picture 4.7 shows the tracking-mode activated. While the application is in GPS-Tracking-mode no manual search-requests can be done. Only changing the map-scale is allowed during this phase. If you like to do a manual request again you will have to disable the GPS-Tracking again.

Notice that tracking with a GPS-device is only that exactly the GPS-device delivers the positions. It won't be an exceptional case if the track-point varies and the movement takes place a few meters aside from the road. The positions of GPS-devices are known to tend from 5 to 20 meters of tolerance. This also depends on the amount of satellites the GPSdevice can receive at the time.
